Indulge your MIND and BODY to a massage

There are many types of massage. Gentle forms of massage include Swedish massage and Shiatsu massage. A more specific muscle related massage is Remedial massage and trigger point therapy. This type of massage is firm to deep and is addressing origins and insertions of the muscle structure. Ayurvedic massage involves the application of therapeutic oils and gentle, rhythmic strokes on the body to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being tailored to an individual’s unique constitution or dosha (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha), which represents their specific energy balance.

More Information

Remedial massage involves several techniques that firmly and deeply penetrate targeted skeletal muscles in order to relieve tightness and contractures (including ‘trigger points’) within them. Muscles can develop tightness and contractures for several reasons, ranging from stress, lack of movement, poor posture, overtraining, poor movement patterns, sports injuries and gym work. Muscles can also protectively tighten up to ‘splint’ or ‘guard’ an injured or inflamed area, or in response to joint wear and tear (arthritis), in individuals with chronic pain and certain neurological conditions. If there’s any specific area of the body that is more compromised, your massage therapist will spend more time in releasing that targeted area. A remedial massage therapist will generally warm up the whole body to mobilise the circulation of the blood and lymphatic systems prior to working on a the specific muscular problem area/s, aiming to optimise both the length and tone of the muscles. Whilst massage may be a physical treatment applied to our body, many people often experience a deep sense of calming and relaxation, a transition away from fight or flight and into a rest and repair state of their autonomic nervous system, which in turn may have positive effects on other aspects of our health including healing and repair of injuries.

Swedish massage is a popular style of therapeutic massage that aims to reducing stress, ease muscle tension, improve blood circulation, enhance flexibility, and promoting overall relaxation and well-being. It is considered a great option for those seeking a gentle and soothing massage experience. It was developed in the early 19th century by a Swedish physiologist named Per Henrik Ling. It involves the use of long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and gentle stretching techniques. The massage therapist typically applies oil or lotion to the skin to reduce friction and ensure smooth movements.

Ayurvedic massage is a traditional healing practice that originates from India and is rooted in the ancient Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda. It involves the application of therapeutic oils and gentle, rhythmic strokes on the body to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The massage techniques used in Ayurvedic massage are tailored to an individual’s unique constitution or dosha (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha), which represents their specific energy balance. The practitioner aims to balance these energies to enhance overall health and harmony. Ayurvedic massage is believed to have numerous benefits, such as reducing stress, improving blood circulation, boosting the immune system, relieving muscle tension, detoxifying the body, and enhancing the skin’s health and appearance. This holistic approach to massage considers the person as a whole, and the treatment is not solely focused on the physical body but also on the emotional and spiritual aspects. It is often used as a complementary therapy to promote relaxation and restore balance in the body, mind, and spirit.
